Washington County’s Relay for Life event was held over the weekend and was successful regardless of the rainfall Saturday afternoon.  This year’s event had the theme of “Why I Relay.”  Those in attendance participated in raising money to go toward cancer research.

The funds also provide cancer patients and their families with free housing and transportation to and from treatments.  The total amount raised at the end of the evening was $109,500.

Listen to today’s In Touch With Southeast Iowa program to hear more from those participants on why they took part in the Relay.
