The Iowa State Fair is coming soon, and there’s one way area residents can be recognized there. The Iowa State Fair Blue Ribbon Foundation is searching for ten outstanding community members to be the next Iowan of the Day at the fair. Spokesman Drew Horton says the organization is looking for citizens who exemplify Iowa’s values – integrity, dependability, sense of community, and a strong work ethic.
He says this is a chance for Iowa communities to put their best citizens forward for a chance to receive statewide recognition. The honor has been given to ten Iowans each year since 1997. Past local winners include Robert Barnes of Letts in 2008 and Shirley Bohr of Wellman in 2005.
Horton says residents can go to their local post office to pick up a nomination form or also on the Blue Ribbon Foundation’s website. The forms are due by July 1st.
