The Washington Junior High School is accepting applications for a summer program.  Junior High Principal Curt Mayer says the Gateway Academy is a summer program for middle school students that offers challenging hands-on, high-tech projects using curriculum that is related to the already developed by Project Lead The Way-Gateway to Technology course.  He says the students will learn about science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

Mayer says they are working with individuals from both the University of Iowa and Gateway to Technology to offer this course.  Students who have completed grades six through eight this school year are eligible to apply.

The registration fee is $50 per each student and the class is June 27th through July 1st at Lincoln Elementary.
