Efforts to renovate and expand a Kalona apartment complex are finally complete. The U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development provided $220,000 in funding to assist with the construction of five two-bedroom units at Kalona Valley Apartments. Kim Regennitter with Rural Development says the 32 year old complex now offers residents a total of 48 one- and two-bedroom apartments. Three of the new units will be occupied by the end of next week.
She says the public is invited to tour the remaining two units tomorrow from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m, at 706 C Avenue in Kalona. Rural Development currently provides financing for 500 multi-family housing projects in rural Iowa.
