Washington County’s unemployment rate went down in May according to data released from the Iowa Workforce Development. Washington County has just under 12,000 people in the workforce. Washington County’s unemployment rate went down for the third straight month to 4.5% down a half of a percent from April.
Unemployment rates averaged a half of a percent lower in all of southeast Iowa. The lowest decrease was in neighboring Johnson County while Henry County’s unemployment rate dropped 1%.
When compared to the last year’s figures, southeast Iowa’s unemployment rate is an average of six-tenths of a percent lower. To see unemployment totals for the entire state, look here.
