Washington’s District Judge has been selected to serve on a higher court.  Governor Terry Branstad has appointed Iowa Judicial Court District 8A Judge Michael R. Mullins to the Iowa Court of Appeals. Judge Mullins has a law degree from Drake University and has been a district judge in Washington since 2002.

The State Judicial Nominating Commission conducted interviews last month and Judge Mullins was one of three finalists for this position. Earlier this year, he was considered for a position on the state Supreme Court to fill one of three vacancies created by a non-retention vote.  He is expected to take the bench in the next 30 days.
