As results from the 2010 U.S. census pour in, city and county officials in the area are beginning to explore options for reprecincting. A number of communities are expected to redraw lines in order to comply with state regulations. The Louisa County Board of Supervisors says it has already proposed new districts. Henry County officials say they have taken a look at potential changes in precincts, but the county’s process of selecting supervisors is also under discussion.
However, other towns will not be making any changes. Kalona City Clerk Karen Christner says the city’s precincts will remain the same.
The Iowa Secretary of State’s office is requiring all towns to report new precincts by September 1.
