English Valleys Knocks Off Singourney

The Sigourney Savages were facing the English Valleys Bears in district semifinal baseball last night in Keota. The Bears were able to score runs in the second and third both off of passed balls. The Savages scored in the fifth to make it 2-1, but E-V scored two more in the top of the sixth. They nearly add more with the bases loaded on a deep fly ball to center, Shane Swearingen had an over the shoulder catch to end the inning. Each team added two more in the seventh as the Bears won 6-3 to end Sigourney’s season. Sigourney pitcher Drew Utterback took the loss throwing seven innings striking out 14, giving up 10 hits and 3 earned runs. The Savages’ Sean Sellers went 2-3 and scored a run. English Valleys improves to 7-15 and Sigourney falls to 19-11.
