A two vehicle accident in Henry County has resulted in one person going to the hospital. According to the Iowa State Patrol, at 5:12 yesterday afternoon, 43 year old Gregory T. Stutzman of Riverside was traveling northbound on Highway 218 at 170th Street when struck the rear of the vehicle driven by 40 year old Lori L. Birchfield of Swedesburg.
Stutzman who was driving a 2006 Nissan Ultima left the roadway and Birchfield’s 2005 Ford Ranger rolled several times coming to rest on its top in the median. Birchfield was trapped and had to be extracted from her vehicle.
She was taken to the Henry County Health Center by the Henry County Ambulance. Stutzman has been charged with failure to maintain control.
The accident remains under investigation and those responding to the scene were the Henry County Sheriff’s Office, Mt. Pleasant Fire and Rescue.
