After falling behind early the IMS offense took the lead from the Danville Bears and poured it on in an 11-5 District Championship win in Kalona Saturday night. In a game heard on KCII it was the Bears who got on the board first with two opening inning runs off of IMS starter Cameron Gingerich. In the bottom of the inning IMS responded with four of their own to regain the lead, led by a two RBI base hit from Christopher Perez. IMS added to their lead in the 2nd with three more runs, the big hit in the inning a 2RBI triple off the bat of Jackson Brokaw. Danville would put together a charge with three in their 3rd inning but IMS got all the insurance they would need with four runs in the 4th including a two run shot to right by Brokaw. Gingerich recorded the win going all seven innings striking out six, allowing five runs, two of them were earned. Wynston Gray took the loss for Danville. At the plate Brokaw led the way for IMS, going 3 for 4 and finishing a single shy of the cycle with five driven in. Gingerich and Marshall Schrock each had two hits, two runs scored and two driven in. IMS will next be in action in the substate round of the post season Tuesday at 7PM in Muscatine when they take on Preston. The winner earns a spot next week at the state tournament at Principal Park in Des Moines.
