Registrations are being accepted for the first official float trip on the Iowa River Water Trail.  Katie Hammond with Louisa County Conservation says the float trip and dedication ceremony will be held Saturday, August 6th.  The event was originally scheduled for June 18th, but Hammond says the river was too high for public use.

She says the dedication ceremony will take place at 11:30 that morning at Hills Access.  The float trip includes lunch, shuttle service, and boat rental.  Pre-registration is required, as Hammond says there are a limited number of canoes available for rent.  The float trip costs $25 per person.

Participants can register by calling Louisa County Conservation.  The Iowa River Water Trail will be officially designated by the Iowa Department of Natural Resources at the ceremony.
