The Mid-Prairie School Board is seeking to expand by purchasing a vacant property adjacent to the middle school.Superintendent Mark Schneider says the board approved a motion to discuss purchasing the property from the owner of Kalona Tire.  Schneider says the building that stood on that property burnt down about a year ago, and talks are moving forward to purchase that property to use for additional parking.

He says the board will hire an environmental company to perform an inspection on the property to make sure there are no liabilities from environmental hazards.

Schneider says the board will then make a move toward purchasing the property once the environmental inspection is complete.
