The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawks softball team had another surprising playoff run in 2011, but fell just short of appearing in the state championship game.  After falling to West Burlington-Notre Dame in the semifinal, they took on Bondurant-Farrar in the consolation championship game at Rogers Sports Complex in Fort Dodge.

The Golden Hawks plated three runs in the first inning, but Bondurant-Farrar scored two to cut the Mid-Prairie lead to one.  Then the rains came to Fort Dodge in the top of the 3rd, washing out the third place game.

Mid-Prairie coach Justin Lutjen says he believes the rainout will result in the two teams sharing third place in the 2011 Class 2A State Softball Tournament.  The Golden Hawks finished the 2011 season with 25 wins and 18 losses.
