Governor Terry Branstad’s office has announced new scholarships available to High School and undergraduate students.  The scholarships will be given to those who are planning on attending an Iowa Community College, College or University.  Tim Albrecht, Spokesman for the Governor says scholarships are being awarded to students pursuing a degree in agriculture, the medical or health related field, and students who are children of service members who gave their lives while on active duty since September 11, 2001.

The Governor and Lieutenant Governor took steps to save money in their Inauguration celebrations and that savings is funding these scholarships.  Albrecht says each year the scholarship fund will award $30,000 in scholarships to those who qualify.
