The American Red Cross says there is an extreme need for blood donations in the region.  Bobbi Snethen with the Red Cross says while summer months tend to bring a lower supply, the current supply is at its lowest in 12 years.  Snethen says they are encouraging residents to donate if they are able to, as the Red Cross is looking for all blood types during this critical shortage.

There are two upcoming blood drives taking place in Washington County where residents can help out.

The American Red Cross will hold a blood drive at the Riverside Casino Thursday, and the Washington AMers Kiwanis Club’s blood drive is Thursday, August 18th at the United Presbyterian Church in Washington.
