The state fire marshal has issued a ban on all open burning in Louisa County until further notice. The Louisa County Sheriff’s office reports County Fire Chief Mitch Schweitzer requested the state fire marshal prohibit any open burning in the county. The request is a result of hot and dry weather in the region, and is intended to combat the dangers of burning in those conditions.
The ban is in effect until Louisa County Fire Department officials say it’s safe to burn openly in Louisa County.
State Fire Marshal Raymond Reynolds says a violation of the ban is a misdemeanor offense.
