The softball state champions were crowned yesterday for all four classes.

First in 1A, Akron-Westfield beat NSK-AR 4-0.

In Class 2A, Iowa City Regina edged out West Burlington/Notre Dame 6-5. It was 4-4 going into the last innings and in the top of the seventh a sac fly brought one Regal run in and they would score another on an error. West Burlington/Notre Dame scored a run in the bottom of the frame but the Regals get the win and their first state softball championship in school history.

In Class 3A, the team that came out of the Demons’ regional ended up winning the title. Clear Creek-Amana and Winterset went to extra innings to decide things. Winterset forced the extra frames after scoring a run in the top of the seventh. The Clippers Maliah Fligg hit a walk off hit to right to bring in the championship winning run as the Clippers take the title 3-2.

In Class 4A, Des Moines East beat Ankeny 6-3.
