In one of the final regular season tune ups before opening district play Fairfield scored a nonconference win over Mid-Prairie in Wellman Tuesday night 12-10. In a game heard on KCII, Fairfield took an early 5-0 lead in their first two at bats off Mid-Prairie starter Nick Stimson. The Golden Hawks would battle back in the 2nd with 6 runs to gain the lead, led by RBI from Jason Schrock and Dylan Wertz. Both The teams seesawed back and forth with Fairfield tying the game at six in the third and Mid-Prairie taking an 8-6 lead in the bottom of the inning. The bullpens for both teams held down the offenses until the 6th when Fairfield tied the game on a passed ball and sac fly. The Trojans took the lead for good on a wild pitch in the 7th and got scored some insurance on a bases loaded, bases clearing double by Josh Dimmit, who drove in five for the night. Dylan Wertz took the loss for Mid-Prairie, Joseph Heitpas got the win for Fairfield. The teams combined for 22 runs, 14 hits and nine errors. Jason Schrock led Mid-Prairie with two hits, two RBI and a run scored. Mid-Prairie now stands at 7-22 on the year and will host the West Branch Bears tonight.
