Officials with the city of Columbus Junction say they want to make it easier for pedestrians to get around in the town.  Community Development Director Mallory Smith recently came up with a plan to improve sidewalks in Columbus Junction, and this week volunteers finished creating crosswalks at Second and Walnut Streets, as well as Main and Walnut.  These two crosswalks are just the latest to be added to the city streetscape.

Smith says crosswalks were painted near Columbus Junior and Senior High as well as near the city pool.  She says volunteers also added the “Keep Columbus Beautiful” logo to the crosswalks.

Smith says funding for the additions came from the Paint Iowa Beautiful grant program.
