Wapello residents will see a higher water bill next month as the town’s city council declined to waive the automatic annual increases.  City Clerk Cindy Bockes (Bock-ess) city utility ordinance says that water and sewer rates automatically increase by 4 percent unless the council votes against higher rates.  Council members have voted against the increase in recent years, but increasing city expenses led to their decision.

The effects of the vote will be seen when residents receive their bill August 1st.
