The Washington City Council held ordinance readings as part of their meeting last night.  A second reading was held regarding a Tax Increment Financing project for Ann Williams/Insurance on the Avenue.  A first reading was held for amending the City Code of putting up stop signs on East Van Buren and East Tyler Streets at 12th Avenue.

Another first reading was held regarding a change to parking on South 9th Avenue between Main and Washington Streets.  The Council agreed to support an election for Local Option Sales Tax and considered an Iowa Department of Transportation preconstruction agreement for work on Madison Street.

The Council also shared that 91 individuals from 30 states applied for the City Administrator position.  Fourteen candidates were given to the Council of which five were selected and will be introduced to the public from 4:00 to 6:00 pm on Friday, August 12th with the formal interviews being conducted the next day.
