A Washington resident was given a special honor at yesterday’s Kernels game in Cedar Rapids.  Kale Rausch of Washington was chosen out of 20 people to sing the National Anthem at the start of yesterday’s game.  Rausch says he had to sing in front of three judges who then made the final decision of who would be chosen.

He says he was nervous but felt great after he finished.  Rausch adds he has no future plans to sing, but would if someone asked him to.

The Cedar Rapids Kernels highlighted Washington during their game yesterday with other residents having the opportunity to give high-fives to the players as they entered the field, throw out the first pitch as well as broadcast part of the game on their flagship radio station.
