Washington Second at Mount Vernon Softball Tourney

The Washington Demon softball team was in Mount Vernon yesterday for a one day tournament, and they reached the title game. The Demons started with a 7-6 win over Cedar Rapids Kennedy 7-6. Then against Iowa Valley, Washington got down 7-1 but fought back to narrow the gap and scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh to win 8-7. In the championship game Washington faced Mount Vernon. The Demons got up 6-3 in the first. The Mustangs chipped away at the lead and the two teams went into the final frame tied at 6-6. Mount Vernon got a two run home run in the seventh and came away with the 9-6 win. Yesterday caps off an incredibly busy week for the Demons in which they played every night this week including doubleheaders on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. The Demons are now 19-15 and will close out the regular season hosting Williamsburg on Wednesday.
