A weekend accident near Ainsworth causes multiple injuries.  At 11:35 yesterday morning, the Washington County Safety Center received numerous calls of an accident involving two vehicles on Highway 92 west of Ainsworth.  According to the Safety Center, one vehicle was reported in a yard and another was blocking the roadway in the 2900 block of Highway 92.

Emergency personnel on the scene determined that a 1998 Chrysler Cirrus travelling eastbound was attempting to make a left turn on Highway 92 and turned in front of a westbound 2011 Toyota 4-runner. The 4-runner struck the right front of the Cirrus.

The Cirrus came to rest in the south ditch and the 4-runner landed in the North ditch and struck a tree. Four subjects were transported from the scene by Washington County Ambulance personnel to University Hospital in Iowa City.

The accident is under investigation by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office with charges pending. Others responding to the scene were the Ainsworth Fire Department, the Ainsworth First Responders, and the Washington County Rescue Squad.
