Alliant Energy has announced one of its affiliate companies is beginning a summer project improving Wellman’s electrical system.  Interstate Power and Light Company will begin work this month around Wellman, making its electrical system more reliable for customers in Wellman and surrounding rural areas.  Grant Gillam, a spokesman for Interstate Power and Light, says additional arrestors will be installed to help reduce the effects of lightning on the town’s system, and electrical poles in the area will be treated and reinforced to help extend service life and performance.

Gillam says the project is part of Alliant Energy’s Power Iowa plan, which will cost $750,000.
