[simage=2240,400,n,center]Washington County and Jefferson County are cleaning up damage after severe weather rolled through the area last night. At 12:30 a.m. the National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm warning for a majority of counties in southeast Iowa, including every county in the KCII listening area.
We were on the air at 12:45 with updates from emergency management personnel and WeatherEye meteorologists. The primary threats were winds in excess of 50 mph and heavy rainfall.
Wind gusts at 56 MPH were reported on the front edge of the storm at Washington Airport. Downed power lines and tree branches were reported throughout Jefferson County.
A dugout was blown out at Stewart Elementary and power outages were reported in both Washington and Wellman.
