With the deadline for Iowa counties to submit plans for new districts approaching, the Washington County Board of Supervisors are moving to finalize those plans in the next few weeks.  County Auditor Bill Fredrick says there could be a few changes in districts in the county.  Some lines may be redrawn in the English River and Iowa townships, which could result in a district containing the towns of Kalona and Riverside.

Fredrick says the Franklin township could be split as well with new lines near West Chester.

He says he expects at least four townships will be split before the September 1 deadline the Secretary of State’s office has set for new districts.

More discussion on redistricting is expected at the Board of Supervisors’ next meeting, which is Tuesday morning at 9:30 at the Washington County Courthouse.
