Recent dry weather has area farmers concerned about their timing of this year’s harvest, but a report by the Iowa Department of Agriculture still suggests progress.  The agency reports a noticeable dry weather pattern in the last month, which has resulted in crops being in different conditions.

Greg Thessen with the department says 15 percent of corn in the southeast region is in excellent condition, 48 percent is currently in good condition, and 25 percent is in fair condition.  Corn in excellent condition has dropped 10 percent in the last month.

Brian Wood with Vision Ag says farmers have claimed this year’s local harvest will be affected and could be delayed if the area doesn’t receive more rain.
