The Washington Demon girls basketball team has taken part in an annual team camp at Drake. The many of the players recently returned from a tournament just outside of St. Louis and this past weekend they were in Des Moines. Demon Head Coach Phil Long says he enjoys the unique structure of the camp at Drake because they play the typical scrimmages but they also have two that are situational based scrimmages. The situational scrimmages put the teams in end of game scenarios such as a trailing team at the free throw line with 45-seconds left in the game and the teams play it out. Long says each of those situational scrimmages consist of 9 scenarios and the first team to win five, wins the scrimmage. He really likes those because they not only tests the kids, but they really test the coaches in having to draw up quick strategies.
