A project five years in the making is finally complete at Kalona Elementary.  Playground Improvement Committee Chairman Jan Knebel says a ribbon cutting ceremony will take place tonight at the new playground.

The Kalona Playground Improvement Project originated in 2006, but in May the committee was awarded grant money that allowed the project to enter its final stages.  Knebel says the grant money went to a layer of rock and a cement base on the playground with a rubberized safety tile completing the renovation.

The ribbon cutting ceremony takes place tonight at 6:30 at Kalona Elementary.
