A Fairfield coach who pleaded guilty to driving under the influence of alcohol while driving her team to a meet has been sentenced. Lee County officials say Susie Steinbeck will serve 48 hours in jail for the drunk driving conviction, and could have served 180 days for the child endangerment charge against her, but he’s suspended the remainder of her sentence after Steinbeck participated in a drug treatment program.
Steinbeck was arrested May 10 with operating while intoxicated and charged with one count of child endangerment. She was transporting the Fairfield High School girls’ golf team to a meet in Fort Madison.
Steinbeck has since resigned as coach and also from her position as a middle school teacher in the Fairfield district.
