Iowa will receive just over $6 million in federal funding for highway related projects, and some of that money will go to a new rest stop in Louisa County. The funding from the National Scenic Byways Program will provide a rest area for travelers on the Great River Road.
The rest area will be part of the Louisa Interpretive Center, which will feature a trail, footbridges, and interpretive panels. The rest area is intended to give River Road travelers a chance to learn about the natural resources of Louisa County.
The cost of the project is an estimated $160,000.
