The Washington City Council met last night and held a public hearing regarding changes in the city’s ward boundaries.  The changes reflect the shift in the city’s population from last year’s census.  A first reading of the change in the city’s ordinance amendment followed and a second reading will be held during a special session next week.

A third reading was held about the addition of a no parking zone on South 9th Avenue between East Main and East Washington Streets and the ordinance amendment was adopted.  The Council raised questions regarding the employment agreement with the newly hired City Administrator.

City Attorney Craig Arbuckle says the agreement is a work in progress and is working with the consulting firm of Voorhees Associates to finalize the agreement.  The special session of the Washington City Council will be next Wednesday at 6:00 in the old public library.
