The Iowa high school state baseball champions have been crowned. The state title games for each class were played at Principal Park in Des Moines on Saturday. In Class 1A, top seed and unbeaten Martesdale-St Marys, had been tested and won two one run games to reach the finals, ended up winning 8-3 over Key, Lansing. In the 2A championship game, Davis County, the team that eliminated Winfield-Mount Union/WACO in the district final round, beat Gilbert. Davis County scored two runs in the top of the first and those would be the only runs scored in game. In Class 3A, Harlan beat the Washington Demons 8-2 to get in the championship game and were facing last year’s 2A champion, Solon. It was the Spartans that put up four runs in the third and win 6-1. Finally in the 4A title game, West Des Moines, Dowling beat Mason City 6-1.
