Canoe enthusiasts can take part in the first official float trip on the Iowa River Water Trail this weekend.  Katie Hammond with Louisa County Conservation says the event was originally scheduled for June 18th, but the river was too high for public use.

She says the dedication ceremony will take place at 11:30 that morning at Hills Access.  Hammond says preparations are complete, and the trail is ready to go, including signage along the trail and near access points.  The float trip includes lunch, shuttle service, and boat rental.

The Iowa River Water Trail will be officially designated by the Iowa Department of Natural Resources at the ceremony.
