The Keota City Council has approved new restrictions on the construction of fences in the town.  Fences in which the openings between the materials of which the fence is constructed are less than 70 percent of the total surface have been restricted to four feet, and wire and other fences in which the openings are more than 70 percent are restricted to six feet in height.

City Clerk Niki Osweiler says no fences can be put up within 30 feet of the intersection of two street lines.  Fences must also be at least two feet from city sidewalks and streets.

The council passed and approved the ordinance at its meeting Monday, and also went into effect that night.
