Police arrested a Henry County man for drunk driving and then learned the car he was driving had been reported stolen.  The Henry County Sheriff’s Office says deputies stopped 56 year-old Robert Barnes, Jr. of Salem for a traffic violation.

Barnes was found to have been drinking alcohol during the stop, and was arrested for drunk driving and taken to Henry County Jail.  Barnes was charged with OWI 3rd offense, stop sign violation, no insurance, no driver’s license, operating a non-registered vehicle, and no seatbelt.

Police discovered later that the vehicle Barnes had been driving had been stolen in Salem resulting in an additional charge of theft 2nd degree.
