Three city officials won’t seek reelection this fall in Kalona.  City council members Steve Lafaurie and Claudine Miller-Zahradnek and Mayor Jerry Kauffman all say they won’t run again in November.

Instead of running for city council, Miller-Zahradnek has decided to focus her efforts on a bid for mayor.  She served two four-year terms on the council.

Lafaurie also spent two terms as a member of the council.  Kauffman, a former council member, served as mayor of Kalona for one and a half terms and will not run for any public office.

City Clerk Karen Christner says at least ten signatures are needed for potential candidates to be nominated.  They have until September 22 to file their nomination papers.
