The Sigounrey-Keota Cobras will have a new head football coach this season. Last season the Cobras had a strong season in which they won their district and suffered only one loss, which came in the quarterfinals to the eventual 2A champion Iowa City Regina. Over the off season, Head Coach Mark Shilb accepted a job at Oskaloosa and will be the Indians’ head football coach. Sigourney Athletic Director Lee Crawford says they’ve hired Twin Cedars Head Coach Jared Jensen to take over. Jensen’s Twin Cedars team nearly made the 8-man playoffs this past season. Shilb coached the Cobras for three seasons and led them to two playoff appearances. He replaces long time Oskie coach Darrell Shumacher.
