The Iowa 4-H Hall of Fame will welcome two new members from Washington County at this year’s Iowa State Fair. Gale Whitacre and Harold Wylie will be inducted during a ceremony Sunday at the 4-H Exhibits Building at the fair.
Amy Green with the Washington County Extension says Whitacre and Wylie have been leaders of the Washington County Horse and Pony Club for 64 years between the two of them.
She says throughout their involvement with 4-H, they haven’t just helped 4-Hers in the horse arena, but also encouraged fellow members to participate in community service projects and to be well-rounded individuals.
Green says inductees into the Hall of Fame demonstrate dedication, commitment, and guidance to Iowa’s 4-H members through the years.
Whitacre and Wylie will be recognized in the Exhibits building at the fair this Sunday afternoon at 3:30.
