The Iowa Attorney General’s Office announces a Washington native has entered a guilty plea in the Iowa Film Office case.  42 year-old Bruce Elgin pleaded guilty in Polk County District Court today to the charge of Tampering with Records, which is an aggravated misdemeanor.

Because Elgin agreed to the charge, Attorney General Tom Miller agreed to drop all other charges against Elgin, including three felony charges.

As part of the plea, Elgin agreed to cooperate with the ongoing investigation and prosecutions related to the Iowa Film Office and the state’s former film tax credit program. His sentencing date has not yet been set.

The case stems from a 2010 investigation by the State Auditor into claimed tax credits by Elgin’s production company, Iowa Film Production Services, for which the Auditor found no proof of payment.
