The Winfield-Mount Union Wolves get to return home this football season. The construction of a new field forced the Wolves to have to play their home games at New London last season. Now work is completed and Head Coach Russ Buffington says there is an excitement around the program. He says with the project they have a new field, new eight lane all weather track, new concession stand, new bleachers and a new press box. The Wolves open the season against Van Buren who last season lacked the numbers to field a varsity team, that meant the Wolves missed out on a week one game and spent that Friday practicing. This year Van Buren had a week zero game against Wapello that was played this past Friday. It allowed Buffington and his staff to get a look at their first opponent. He says one thing is clear is Van Buren will look to throw the ball and their base set is a four wide set. The Wolves host Van Buren this Friday.
