The Washington County Board of Supervisors reviewed and approved an application for an expansion of an animal confinement operation as part of their meeting yesterday morning.  This expansion is happening in rural Kalona.  The Supervisors also discussed a request for the County’s participation in the Start Somewhere Walk with Washington County Public Health.

Edie Nebel with Public Health says many walks will be happening all over Iowa and here in Washington County on October 7th and is an initiative from Governor Terry Branstad to make Iowa the healthiest state in the country.

They also approved to pay the County Medical Examiner a $300 per month retainer starting the first of October for work that is done for court cases.
