With the Demon football team on the road facing Benton Community it came down to a two point conversion in overtime. In a game heard on KCII, three Demon turnovers gave the Bobcats opportunities in which they were able to score two touchdowns and led 14-0 at the half. They did suffer a blow when their leading rusher Senior Brandon Beaver went out with what looked like a broken leg late in the first half.

In the second half the Demons looked much stronger on defense coming up with some key stops and they’d get on the board with a 46 yard run from quarterback Jake Redlinger with about 3-minutes left in the third. Shortly after that he would connect with Colin Steele for a 68 yard touchdown pass and the game was tied going into the fourth.

In the fourth the Demons had a couple of drives go deep into Bobcat territory but an interception on one and some penalties on another disrupted those. In overtime, the Demons scored on their second play and hit on the pat. But on Benton’s possession they scored on a ten yard run on their first play and a penalty at the end of the play gave them the ball at the one. They would scored on a quarterback sneak for the two point conversion and the 22-21 win.

With the win Benton is now 1-3 and 1-1 in district play while the Demons fall to 1-3 and 0-2 in district play. Washington will host Clear Creek-Amana Friday.
