The Washington City Council has decided to eliminate a city position. After much discussion between the Council members, it was decided to eliminate the City Engineer’s position. Finance committee members presented this proposal as a way to save money in the city’s budget and gave the presentation that it would be cheaper to use a consultant on projects in the city.
Mayor Sandra Johnson and Council member Bob Shepherd both asked for figures showing the cost savings on eliminating this position and it was not provided. After the vote was cast, it was decided that Current Engineer Rob McDonald’s last day with the city of Washington will be December 31st.
