The Washington City Council held a series of public hearings as part of their meeting last night.  The readings included amending the City Code for a change in speed limit on South 9th Avenue reducing the speed from 30 to 25 miles per hour, adding a weight limit of 25,000 pounds on South 9th Avenue between East Madison and East Polk and East Polk between South 6th and South 9th along with the addition of a stop intersection on South 9th Avenue at East Van Buren Street.

Discussion was also held of a contract for consulting services for a historic survey and national Register of Historic Places Nomination Project for the Mills Seed Building and the State Theater.  A motion passed to sign this contract.
