The Washington Demons got off to their best start of the season and sparked the continuous clock in the second half to get their first district win of the season. In a game heard on KCII, Washington played host to a Clear Creek-Amana Clipper team that was in search of their first win of the season. The Demons scored on their first two possesions with a Tanner Knupp 12 yard touchdown run and a Jake Redlinger 55-yard touchdown run to go up 14-0. In the second quarter the Demons Alex Coker picked off a pass in Clipper territory that set up a Demon touchdown drive, and defensive end Colin Steele jumped in the passing lane on a Clipper swing pass and tipped it to himself for another interception and that set up another Demon touchdown. Washington was up 28-0 at halftime. Late in the third quarter the Demons would score on a little hitch pass from Jake Redlinger to Brock Kimball that Kimball ran through a couple of tackles and ran 44 yards for a touchdown to give Washington a 35-0 lead. With the continuous clock the fourth quarter went fast and the Demons won 35-0.
Throughout the night the Demons were getting pressure on Clipper quarterback Dillon Villhauer. With the win the Demons are now 2-3 on the season and 1-2 in the district and will travel to face Mount Vernon next Friday. The Clippers fall to 0-5. The Clippers had beaten Washington the last three seasons.
