The city of Fairfield has been selected to participate in a two-year program focusing on energy efficiency and conservation.  The program is sponsored by Interstate Power and Light Company through its Hometown Rewards grant program.

Fairfield Sustainability Coordinator Scott Timm says the city has goals of conserving energy through its “Go Green Plan” through grass-roots community efforts.  He says some of the goals include finding ways to reduce citywide energy use, providing incentives for equipment upgrades, and a public awareness campaign on energy conservation.

Timm says the Hometown Rewards program will help the city identify where it can save money by switching to more sustainable methods of providing energy to its residents.
