On a steamy Friday night in Wellman the Mid-Prairie Golden Hawks were a 38-13 winner over Clear Creek Amana. In a game heard on KCIIradio.com, Mid-Prairie jumped out to a 14-0 halftime lead behind a stiffling defense that forced three consecutive three and outs for the Clippers to begin the game and an opportunistic offense that started each of its first four drives on the Clipper side of the 50 and cashed in.

Mid-Prairie drew first blood when Jaemiin Powell pushed his way into the end zone from four yards out on a quarterback sneak. The second touchdown came on the first play of the second quarter when Reid Miller connected with Kyle Mullet. Coming out of the locker room Mid-Prairie would extend their lead to 17-0 on an Austin Errthum 36 yard field goal before the Clippers would show some signs of life. Konrad Moore and the high flying Clipper offense got on track for the first time on the night with a five play 55 yard drive that ended with a Moore five yard touchdown run. The Golden Hawks would close the door for good on the next play when
Ryan Hoffman returned the ensuing kickoff 85 yards for a touchdown.

Two more 4th quarter touchdowns for MP made sure that the game was out of reach Powel found the end zone from 21 yards out on the ground and Steven Jones swept 68 yards around right end for a touchdown. Jones led the Golden Hawks with 168 yards on 17 carries and a TD, Powell had two scores and 65 on 12 carries.

With the win Mid-Prairie evens their record to 1-1 on the season, and will make the trip to district favorite Davis County to open the district portion of their schedule. You can heard that game on KCIIradio.com with the pregame starting at around 7PM next Friday from Bloomfield.
