The Washington Demons opened district play hosting a Grinnell football team that was rounded and seemed to operate on all cylinders. In a game heard on KCII, Washington took the opening drive down field and struck first with a Jake Redlinger 34 yard touchdown run to go up 7-0 but the Demons wouldn’t score again until 8:00 left in the fourth quarter. Meanwhile Grinnell scored on their opening drives one set up by a long half back pass on their first play and on the next drive a long pass to their tight end. The Tigers led 14-7 at halftime.

The Tigers drove down and scored to open the second half then recovered a Demons fumble and scored another touchdown to go up 28-7. They would get it to 35-7 before the Demons scored in the fourth and got a two point conversion. The Demons never gave up and scored again to make the score look a little better but Grinnell won 35-23. The Demons fall to 1-2 and 0-1 in district play while Grinnell improves to 2-1 and 1-0 in district play.
